Remember how frustrating it was when you sent that HD video to a friend, and it turned out to be of low quality because WhatsApp automatically reduced the quality? Well, that’s about to change.

A week ago, WhatsApp introduced a method for sending higher-quality pictures. They assured us that HD video support would arrive soon, and today (August 25, 2023) it’s here. They’ve begun rolling it out and it might take some time before it gets to your WhatsApp account. The update will be received by both iPhone and Android users.

This means we now have the option to share 720px resolution videos, an upgrade from the previous 480px. To use this feature, simply select the video(s) you want to share, and tap the new HD button which will located at the top of the screen. A dialog box will pop up, allowing you to choose between Standard Quality or HD Quality (480p or 720p), and it will also display the file sizes.

As part of their latest update, a video with HD quality now displays a distinctive HD badge on it.

Note that all HD videos, along with other media files and text, are protected with end-to-end encryption, which means your content is secure and private.

Be expectant, as this new feature might arrive before you realize it.
